Countering Hate Speech training

No Hate Speech training collage

In collaboration with the Council of Europe and the Anna Lindh Foundation network coordinators in FinlandDenmark and Germany, the Swedish network hosted the Regional Training Seminar on Countering Hate Speech through Human Rights Education.

When: 3-6 April 2017 (arrival on 2 and departure on 6 April)

Where: Världskulturmuseet, Gothenburg

In 2014, Council of Europe published Bookmarks manual to support the No Hate Speech Movement youth campaign. Bookmarks is useful for educators wanting to address hate speech online from a human rights perspective, both inside and outside the formal education system.

The training seminar aimed at building participants' competences to combat hate speech online and promote human rights on- and offline through human rights education and campaigning.

The training seminar engaged youth workers, educators, non-formal education trainers, and NHSM campaign activists that work with youth on issues related to discrimination, racism and xenophobia and are in a position to implement the gained competences within the framework of the national campaigns and/or initiatives of the Anna Lindh Foundation national networks.

In total, the training brought together around 21 participants from Denmark, Finland, Germany, Sweden and other European countries.
