On The Cerny Inuit Collection
The Cerny Inuit Collection has an interesting history. Bought in Switzerland in the 1990's, the founding collections 127 pieces of Inuit artwork originally from Arctic Canada came to Europe in the 1970's. The sculptures reflect the traditional life of the Inuit. 80% of the artists from the original collection could be identified. Since then the collection has grown to over 1000 pieces to include works from other circumpolar regions, which makes the collection comprehensive and unique. As of 2000 the collection started to be shared with the public through various exhibitions in Switzerland and internationally.
