Pictures of Power. Japanese woodcuts as propaganda

Kobayashi Kiyochika's series of woodcuts, 'Long live Japan; one hundred victories, one hundred laughs' from the Sino-Japanese War (1894-1895) raises many questions about how images affect us, how they are able to mobilise violence and prevent us from feeling empathy for the designated enemy.
