The Sculpture Hall
Temporarily closed due to new exhibition. Some of the statues has moved to the library.
Religious sculptures from Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, China, Mongolia and Myanmar (Burma) are exhibited in this gallery. The four religions of Buddhism, Jainism, Hinduism and Daoism have their origins in Asia.
The objects shown here reflect the museum's collections. This is the reason more Buddhist sculptures are exhibited. There are other religions from these regions that are not represented here. The sculptures are filled with religious symbolism, and the texts in this room are a guide to the religions' visual language.
