The Gold Room
The Gold Room is a representative collection of silver and gold objects from the Near East, Cyprus, Greece and Rome.
The collection consists of jewellery worn by ancient women and men, votive offerings vowed to Gods or tomb wreaths. In recent decades, further single objects have been acquired on behalf of Medelhavsmuseet (the Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities). In addition, the museum houses the two large private collections of Georg von Békésy and Carl Kempe.
